Sixers' resillience, mindset and leadership program added to exclusive register

The Adelaide 36ers are proud to announce that Beyond the Baseline has been officially selected for inclusion in the South Australian Department for Education’s External Wellbeing Programs Directory.

This curated register recognises evidence informed mental health and wellbeing programs delivered by external providers and outlines how they align with the Department’s Wellbeing Engagement Collection (WEC) domains. Selection confirms Beyond the Baseline as a credible, research backed initiative that supports schools to strengthen student wellbeing outcomes.

At the Adelaide 36ers, we believe sport is more than a game - it’s a catalyst for connection, growth and change. Through the Shooting Hoops Foundation, the not-for-profit arm of the Club, we extend our impact beyond the court by empowering young people to thrive in every aspect of life.

Beyond the Baseline: Pushing Past Limits into Uncharted Potential

Delivered in partnership with Be Well Co, Beyond the Baseline is a dynamic, research-backed wellbeing and leadership program designed for Year 10 and 11 students.

Using basketball as a platform, the program builds essential life skills including:

  • Resilience
  • Collaboration
  • Self-belief
  • Growth mindset
  • Leadership capability

Through interactive challenges, storytelling, and powerful athlete experiences, students engage in what we call “mental fitness by stealth” - practical wellbeing skill building embedded in high-energy, relatable activities.

The program is aligned to the Australian Curriculum (Version 9) and connects directly to school wellbeing priorities.

Evidence-Based. Impact-Driven.

Beyond the Baseline is underpinned by strong behavioural science, including the Theoretical Domains Framework (TDF) - the same model used in Be Well Co’s evidence-based wellbeing solutions such as the Be Well Plan.

Program content is grounded in evidence syntheses led by Be Well Co researchers demonstrating that combining approaches such as:

  • Positive psychology
  • Mindfulness
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Interpersonal communication skills

These approaches lead to meaningful and lasting improvements in wellbeing.

This is not a one-off motivational session. It is a structured, research-backed initiative designed to create measurable impact.
